The Benefits Of Trenchless Sewer Line Repair And The Right Contractor For The Job

Few problems are more upsetting and disgusting than a damaged sewer line. You are either faced with sewage that is backing up into your home or flooding your yard. There is no way to avoid calling in the professionals to correct the issue and stop raw sewage from contaminating your property.

But the second most problematic issue related to a sewer line problem is the destruction needed to make the repair or a replacement of the damaged pipe. Trenching from the city sewer system to your house could destroy your lawn, sidewalks, plant beds, and even your driveway. Not only will you have to look at an unsightly scar across your property, but you will also have to write a substantial check to get the damage repaired. Fortunately, trenchless sewer line repair and replacement is not a real option.

What Is Trenchless Pipe Repair?

Trenchless pipe repair and replacement is the solution to massive destruction in your yard. Rather than digging a large trench, the repairs or pipe replacement is made using one of two innovative processes. Pipe lining is a process that inserts a new resin liner inside the existing damaged pipe. The resin is soaked in epoxy and then inflated to adhere to the inside of the old pipe. Once the epoxy cures, the new pipe is stronger than the old one and has a life expectancy of almost 100 years.

Pipe bursting is a process that uses a large cone to burst the old pipe while pulling a new one into its place. For this replacement process, only two holes are needed. One is at each end of the damaged sewer line. The bursting cone and new pipe are feed into one hole and pulled through the old pipe to the second hole. With the new pipe in place, it is connected to the city sewer system and your home’s sewer pipe.

While each of these new processes might sound complicated, each has been proven to be a very reliable alternative to digging an enormous trench to replace a damaged or worn-out sewer line.

Benefits Of Trenchless Pipe Repair

  • Less Labor- There is much less digging involved in these new processes. And that means that you are paying far less for the labor to complete the project.
  • Longer Life-Span- Most current piping is estimated to last from 20 to 50 years, depending on the region and application. But with the new epoxy coated resin liners and pipe used for burst installations, the life expectancy is up to 100 years. This means that you are getting almost twice the life expectancy you would have from a traditional pipe replacement.
  • Eliminates Landscape Destruction- There is no denying that trenchless pipe replacement saves you a substantial amount of money. The cost to replace sidewalks, driveways, grass, plants, and trees is significant. But there is also the aesthetic value that cannot be measured as easily as the dollar value. If your home is older, you are sure to have a well-established landscape that you have been tending for years or even decades. And there is no way to adequately replace a tree that has been growing in your years for ten, twenty or even thirty years. You will always be able to see which plants and trees were replaced because they will not have the same size and grandeur as the original items ones. Trenchless pipe repair and replacement are the only way to avoid that forever damage to your yard and landscape’s beauty.
